would like to encourage all small groups in Havering to apply for Grassroots Grants funding between £250 and £5,000.

We are particularly looking to fund the smallest groups, and activities that bring people together to support each other.

We can fund a wide range of activities, running costs and also equipment / furniture / building improvements etc. as long as there is a clear benefit for people in Havering and it is good value for money.

We are unlikely to fund one-off celebration events and activities which require substantial staff costs.

In order to be able to apply, the group has to meet the following criteria:

The group is run by local residents volunteering their time for other local residents;

has been active for not less than 12 months before application;

has an evidenced income of less than £30,000 per year (average);

has a clubs & societies / charity type bank account;

has a constitution or written rules for the group setting out what it is for and how decisions are made.

Local groups which are part of larger / national organisations can apply as long as they can demonstrate that they are managed locally, and financially independent of the parent group.
