Goalkeeping Sessions West Ham United Football Club are looking for young goalkeepers with outstanding potential to integrate into their Academy programme which caters for players from Under 9 level all the way through to Under 16. We are currently interested in the younger age groups, Under 8s, 9s and 10s and hold a Goalkeeping Development session at Chadwell Heath on a Monday evening. With this in mind, we have forged a partnership with Soccer Skills F.C. and their Goalkeeping Coach, Vinnie Nicoll. The aim is to progress identified goalkeepers from their regular goalkeeping school, onto being observed by West Ham Academy Goalkeeping staff. This could be done by an invite to attend the Monday evening sessions, a club scout watching them play for their Sunday team or taking part in one of Vinnie’s specially arranged sessions every so often at Chadwell Heath as a guest of West Ham United. From there, those showing the required talent and potential could be invited to undertake an official six week trial with the club and then possibly sign schoolboy forms. Only goalkeepers recommended by Vinnie Nicoll himself are eligible and must be regular attendees of his own goalkeeping coaching sessions. Paul Tighe Academy Goalkeeping Coach

It would be best if you let me know when Vinny has boys that are worth me looking at. When he has at least 3 or 4 then we can arrange a date. I would only be interested in the younger ages, U7 U8 U9 U10 U11.

As you are aware (and if your not please checkout the website) we have an on-going partnership with the West Ham United Goalkeeping Academy, which has been up and running successfully for about a year now.
In that time Vinnie has conducted 4 sessions and has been able to take a number of lads for Paul Tighe to have a look at and assess. Paul has asked 3 of the lads to come back to future sessions with the academy keepers to see how they cope and progress.
One of the lads who Paul took on was doing very well and on the verge of being intergrated for an Academy game, but sadly Paul was told that the lad had connections with FulhamFC and will be joining them for training in the future.
After every session at the Academy Paul has a chat with all the lads and gives his views, advice and tips; and every time he mentions how important it is to have good fast feet.
After Vinnie’s last session (1st March) he had a chat with Paul and it was agreed that there will be further sessions hopefully before the end of the season or next season, to be held at Chadwell Heath Training Ground on a Monday evening.
